Atlas Copco celebrates

Congratulations to all Atlas Copco employees and friends on the company’s 139th birthday!

Atlas Copco was founded on February 21, 1873, to manufacture and sell all types of materials for building and operating railways, and to set up the necessary workshops. When first established, AB Atlas had an unusually large number of shareholders – 50 – and the largest was the Wallenberg family (still involved with Atlas Copco today). The initiative to start the company was taken by a 36-year-old engineer named Eduard Fränckel, who also became the company’s first managing director.

Through decades of restructuring and successful acquisitions, Atlas Copco found the road to success – it is now known as one of the world’s leading providers of industrial productivity solutions. Its products and services include compressed air and gas equipment, construction and mining equipment, and industrial tools and assembly systems.
